Auburn Agricultural Committee approves revisions to livestock and beekeeping bylaws. Chair Joseph Martin led the unanimous passage of modified language addressing Massachusetts Building Code references and beehive regulations, following concerns raised by Member Ronald Brooks that wording was overly prescriptive for livestock structures. The committee scheduled two public meetings--February and March--to gather resident input on proposed chicken bylaws and poultry-beekeeping regulations, with outreach planned via social media and electronic signs around town.
The committee will also meet with the Board of Health to discuss reducing the current $50 animal permit fee and establishing separate commercial and residential fee structures.
