Auburn Conservation Commission Continues Fire HQ and Transfer Station Hearings to December

AUBURN — November 12, 2025 — Auburn Conservation Commission continues fire headquarters and transfer station hearings to December 10. The commission, chaired by Michael Garland, voted unanimously at its November 12 meeting to continue public hearings on both the proposed Auburn Fire and Rescue Headquarters at 10 Prospect Street and a gravel wetland stormwater upgrade at the 15 Hardscrabble Road transfer station, neither of which had yet received a DEP file number. Jose Valdez of Fuss & O'Neill presented plans for the fire complex, which would remove roughly 15,000 cubic yards of material and drop site grades six to eight feet while increasing flood storage capacity by 63 cubic feet within the flood zone. Commissioner Megan Langley flagged language in the project narrative that she said incorrectly characterized native broadleaf cattail as an invasive species alongside purple loosestrife. The commission also kept an enforcement order active against a dumpster storage operation at 464 West Lester Street, telling owner Tom Shannon that containers must be moved outside the 100-foot wetland buffer and a compliant site diagram submitted before December 10.
