Auburn Finance Committee recommends $7.8 million in departmental budgets

Auburn Finance Committee recommends $7.8M in FY2027 departmental budgets. Committee members unanimously recommended budgets for Information Technology ($475,987), Senior Center ($203,430), Library ($913,641), Cable Television ($207,109), Veterans Services ($162,121), Police ($5,737,832), and Dispatch ($930,978). Library Director Michael Zeller reported 86,000+ visitors and 98,000 circulations in 2025, representing 10-15% growth.

Police Chief R. Scott Mills requested four patrol officers and a sergeant; Town Manager Dori Vecchio declined to fund them due to budget constraints but indicated the request would be revisited in future cycles. The Committee approved $209,000 in departmental transfers, including $100,000 to Fleet Maintenance for winter storm costs.
