Auburn Select Board transmits FY2027 budget on 3-1 vote

Auburn Select Board votes 3-1 to transmit FY2027 budget with 2.18 percent tax levy increase. Chair Anne M. Cavanaugh, Vice Chair Todd M.
Kirrane, and Members Daniel S. Carpenter, Steve Chambers, and Sara K. Rufli reviewed three hours of departmental budgets; Vice Chair Kirrane voted against the proposal, urging greater funding for roadways, fire overtime, and DPW staffing.
The Board unanimously approved reopening the Annual Town Meeting warrant through February 27 to allow residents affected by the February 23 snow event to submit warrant articles and unanimously designated Sewer Superintendent Peter Boria and Auburn Police Patrolman Patrick Montague as Special Municipal Employees for snow removal operations.
