Auburn Sewer Commissioners Review $269,000 in Capital Spending Requests
Other Committee 2026-08-20 Part 2 · Meeting of August 20, 2026
Auburn Sewer Commissioners preview $269,000 in fall town meeting requests. The board heard plans to ask Special Town Meeting for $99,000 to replace a 2014 sewer truck and $170,000 to begin replacing a pump at the Pinrock pump station, both drawn from sewer retained earnings. Town Engineer Emma Williamson, attending her first sewer committee meeting, briefed the board on a Water Street culvert replacement now under Massachusetts Department of Transportation review and on new emergency plans for the town's three largest pump stations, warning a Pinrock failure could require "12 trucks" plus "three trucks here, three trucks here, four trucks there." Separately, the town's low bidder for a Sword Street force main lining project, Riccardi Brothers, came in at just over $2.4 million against a $3.3 million engineer's estimate.
The board tabled its reorganization pending Commissioner Wayne's return and adjourned unanimously.
