Auburn Zoning Board Approves Five-Dog Kennel License, 4-1

Zoning Board · Meeting of June 18, 2026

Auburn Zoning Board approves a five-dog kennel license 4-1 over neighbors' complaints tied to an unlicensed dog-daycare business. Chair Robert Tatro and members Richard Kusy, Meghan Roche and Katelyn Bushe voted to approve a special permit letting Jarrod and Elizabeth Webb keep five personal dogs at 3 Ashworth Drive, with Vice Chair Michael Marin dissenting. Abutters Bruce Fant and Bryce Keeler told the board the real disruption comes from the Webbs' unregulated "sniff spot" dog-exercise business, which Assistant Town Manager Paul Dell'Aquila said the zoning bylaw does not address.

Animal Control Officer Tanya Corbo said a newly effective bylaw caps households at six animals, with any household over four dogs needing a kennel license. Marin argued "we have no teeth" to enforce barking complaints, while Kusy said licensing would "give animal control some teeth." The board also reappointed Tatro chair and Marin vice chair for another year and fixed a clerical error in a 615 Southbridge Street golf-simulator permit.
