Auburn Conservation Commission opposes state bill exempting housing developments from local wetland rules. Chair Michael W. Garland and the five-member board voted unanimously June 10 to endorse opposition to S.3064 by the Massachusetts Association of Conservation Commissions, saying it would weaken local authority over wetlands and wastewater disposal.
The commission also opened three public hearings on major projects: a proposed 17,860-square-foot indoor golf simulator at 615 Southbridge Street by Mast Futures LLC, a determination of wetland status for an upland farm ditch at 39 Prospect Street, and the Providence and Worcester Railroad's renewal of its vegetation management plan.
