AUBURN — Select Board appoints new town counsel with split 3-2 board vote. Chair Anne M. Cavanaugh and Member Sara K.

Rufli opposed appointing Mead, Talerman & Costa as general counsel for one year with possible two one-year renewals; Members Chambers, Carpenter, and Vice Chair Kirrane supported the motion. The Board unanimously endorsed the fiscal year 2027 operational and capital budgets for the May 5 Annual Town Meeting, along with warrant articles on Potter Farm Estates roads, manufactured housing rent control, and $550,000 in roadway improvements. The Board also voted 4-0 to request a letter to the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection investigating potential historic contamination at the former industrial property abutting Main Street.
