Auburn Board of Health Declares 7 Coachman Lane Unfit for Human Habitation
Auburn Board of Health declares Coachman Lane home unfit for habitation, suspends three tobacco permits.
AUBURN -- June 1, 2026, Auburn Board of Health declares Coachman Lane home unfit for habitation, suspends three tobacco permits. The board voted 2-1 on Monday to condemn a property at 7 Coachman Lane as unfit for human habitation, with Chairman Eric Otteson and member Carolyn Griffin in favor and member Kara Westerman dissenting, after Health Inspector Tim Pratt testified the mold was "fairly severe" and that inspectors "had headaches within being there for five minutes." Occupants, a father and adult son who had lived at the property for roughly 20 years, reported a year of coughing and frequent nosebleeds but remained in the home after their May 1 lease expired. In three separate tobacco hearings, the board unanimously reduced Xpress Stop owner Joe Grish's first-violation suspension from three days to one, with two days held pending any future violation; upheld a seven-day second-violation suspension and $2,000 fine against In Style Galaxy Newsstand, 2-1, denying owner Harry Herjani's continuance request; and unanimously imposed a 30-day suspension and continued a revocation finding against One Stop Convenience owner Ahmad Chaudhry after his fourth tobacco violation within 36 months, the first revocation-level hearing the board has handled. All three suspensions begin June 12, 2026.
