Auburn Conservation Commission Continues Three Hearings, Reelects Officers

AUBURN — July 9, 2025 — Auburn Conservation Commission reappoints Garland as chair and continues three active hearings. At its July 9 meeting, the commission unanimously reappointed Michael Garland as chairman and Megan Langley as vice chair before working through a full docket of notices of intent. A request for determination by Gina Lewis to remove dead ash trees at 276 Prospect Street was continued to July 23 after commissioners said fall photographs she submitted could not distinguish dead trees from living ones. A notice of intent for a new single-family home at 5 Commonwealth Avenue, presented by engineer Norman Hill on behalf of applicant David Romangh, was also continued to July 23 pending a Saturday site visit. The most contentious item, a notice of intent for commercial site work at 4749 Rockland Road filed by Michael Marinus of Inside Engineering, drew multiple abutters who alleged sediment is threatening an adjacent brook and that the business logged 18 truck trips before noon on the day of the meeting — well above what neighbors say was informally agreed. That hearing was continued to September 10, with Garland telling abutters, "We need a final plan," and urging them to submit written concerns to the Planning Board before its own September hearing.
