Auburn Fire Station Building Committee Approves $132,433 Change Order

Other Committee · Meeting of August 11, 2026

Auburn Fire Station Building Committee clears $132,433 change order and a $970,158 payment. The committee unanimously approved Change Order No. 1, covering unexpected ledge removal around the foundation and a roughly $29,000 credit for a fire hydrant no longer needed, calculated on a unit-cost basis rather than by weight or time. It also approved Payment Requisition No. 3 for $970,158.73 after a member questioned why the town-funded project was charged about $8,000 in permitting fees, asking "why we were paying us to pay us." Project representatives said the full building footprint and footings are poured, the elevator shaft is built, and steel erection remains on track for September.

No members of the public spoke at either comment period, and the committee tentatively set its next meeting, with a possible site walk-through, for September 15.
