Auburn fire station panel approves minutes, reviews ledge cost estimate
Other Committee · Meeting of June 9, 2026
Auburn fire station panel flags a possible $175,000 ledge overrun. The Auburn Fire Station Building Committee heard that excavation crews hit roughly 1,100 cubic yards of ledge near the building footprint, billable at $160 per cubic yard under the contract, for a "ballpark" estimate project team member Joe put at $175,000 pending further analysis. Committee member Greg separately pushed to have a mistakenly charged town permit fee refunded directly to contractor Casagna Construction rather than processed as a formal change order, saying "it shouldn't come out of the project budget." The panel also learned 179 submittals and shop drawings have been logged since work began three weeks earlier, with 121 already closed.
Prospect Street will see a one-day closure, coordinated with police, once water tap work is scheduled. Members approved the April 28 minutes and adjourned unanimously, with a tentative next meeting set for July 7.
