Auburn Housing board votes to bar personal credit card use
Other Committee · Meeting of June 30, 2026
Auburn Housing Authority hears Facebook allegation, tightens credit card rules. Public commenter Alan Rafferty accused board member Kevin Trena of posting "F the Holocaust" online during his campaign and criticized selectmen Todd Kerain and Nan Kavanaugh for backing him; the board took no action on the claim. Members voted unanimously to bar the executive director from using personal credit cards for agency business, approved check registers including a $20,000-plus HVAC cleaning bill and three catch-up $1,500 retirement payments, and accepted a state Contract for Financial Assistance grant.
Staff said a 2021 survey found 61 percent of tenants feel unsafe due to exterior door security, still unaddressed, and that a weatherization grant was redirected to breaker-panel replacement instead of windows after a code violation. The board voted to move meetings to the first Tuesday of the month at 5:30 p.m. starting August 4, skipping July.
