Auburn Planning Board Continues All Active Site Plan Hearings to December

AUBURN — November 19, 2025 — Auburn Planning Board continues all five active site plan hearings, with no applications reaching final approval at the November 19 meeting. Chair Ronald E. Brooks and the board sent a proposed used-car dealership at 500 Washington Street back for revised drawings, telling applicants they must show complete property boundaries, parking dimensions, and turning radii and obtain fire department sign-off before the application can advance; a neighbor, Ruthanne Aris of 81 South Street, raised pedestrian safety concerns about the Route 20 and South Street intersection that the board said it would forward to the Department of Public Works. A consultant for the town's new Auburn Fire Rescue Headquarters at 10 Prospect Street, presented by O. Valdez of Fuss & O'Neill, outlined plans for a 95-space facility — down from 140 spaces previously on the site — with the project needing Planning Board approval to stay on a permitting schedule through January. Engineer Michael Walsh of Walsh Engineering Associates described a gravel wetland stormwater retrofit at the Casella Waste transfer station at 15 Hard Scrabble Road that he said could push total suspended solids removal from roughly 50 percent to 80 percent, with discharge ultimately reaching the Dark Brook Reservoir that feeds Auburn's municipal drinking water supply. All hearings were continued to the December 9 meeting.
