Finance Committee approves FY27 budgets; splits on trailer park regulation
Finance Committee · Meeting of April 8, 2026
Auburn Finance Committee clears FY27 budgets for May town meeting despite split on rent control. The committee unanimously recommended the Capital Improvements Plan at $5,079,883 and approved budget amendments including a $64,000 new Fleet Mechanic position for the Fire Department and a $100,000 increase for Law Department legal services, offset by a $75,000 DPW reduction from a water-treatment assessment and $72,000 in health insurance savings. The committee approved more than $150,000 in mid-year transfers for vehicle repairs and equipment needs across departments.
For the May 5 warrant, members recommended approval of 19 articles including $550,000 for road paving and pothole repairs and funding for a high school emergency generator, though a proposal to petition the state for trailer park rent control regulations failed both a recommendation vote of 2-3 and a motion to defer. ===BRIEF===
