Finance Committee Recommends Seven Department FY 2027 Budgets

Auburn Finance Committee recommends $25.4 million in FY 2027 department budgets. The committee unanimously recommended appropriations for pensions and benefits at $16.7 million, fire and rescue at $6.6 million, and general services at $1.8 million, with smaller allocations for the Town Clerk, Elections, Town Hall, and Emergency Management. Town Manager Dori Vecchio reported health insurance costs were negotiated down from a projected 14 percent increase to an effective 8 percent increase through premium holidays and competitive bidding.
Fire and Rescue Department leadership reported emergency call volume has risen 11 percent compared to the prior year, with extended discussion of supervisory staffing needs and succession planning challenges.
