Auburn's Select Board heard that the Water Street culvert won't be rebuilt until 2028 and fielded pointed procurement questions about a Flock Safety camera contract. Assistant DPW Director Pete Borie and Town Engineer Emma Williamson said a MassDOT inspection in August 2025 forced a redesign to a four-sided culvert, with roughly $200,000 in design costs and construction, estimated near $1.4 million, not expected to start before spring 2028. During public comment, Eric Richard of Precinct 4 asked the town manager, procurement officer and town counsel to document in writing the legal authority behind Flock Safety's 12-month initial term and automatic 36-month renewal, saying "I assert to you this conversation is worth having." The board took no action on his request.
Members separately voted 4-0-0 to approve a change of manager at the Auburn Sportsman's Club, two drainlayer licenses, disposal of DPW surplus equipment, an $85 fire department gift from Jen Brooks and Amy Perkins, and transmittal of the fall special town meeting warrant to town counsel.
