Auburn Select Board approves nine licenses, holds rent control hearing

AUBURN — The Auburn Select Board approved nine business and entertainment licenses unanimously while holding a public hearing on manufactured home rent control that revealed deep community divisions. Approved licenses included TASCA Hyundai Auburn, Eversource, Dileo Gas, a National Grid pole relocation, the Century Sportsman's Club, Millbury Lions Foundation, Auburn Chamber of Commerce, and drainlayer Paul Morris; fees were waived for the Lions and Chamber events. At the rent control hearing, Whispering Pines Estates residents sought protections against rising rents while opponents expressed concern about property values and investment impacts.
No action on rent control was taken.
