School Committee · Meeting of October 28, 2026
Auburn School Committee heard a detailed MCAS accountability report showing Auburn High School's statewide percentile dropped to 27th from 36th, even as all three rated schools kept their "not requiring assistance" classification. Assistant Superintendent Mr. Keller and district principals tied part of the high school's decline to the 2024 elimination of the MCAS graduation requirement, calling it a trend seen "throughout the state." Auburn Middle School held at the 53rd percentile and Swanson Road rose to the 56th percentile, with Swanson Road grade 3 students posting a four-year-high 53 percent proficiency rate. The committee separately voted unanimously to appoint four parent volunteers, including Mary Kay DeCourcy as chair, to lead the district's Special Education Parent Advisory Council, and approved $475,000 in capital improvements for school fields and facilities through fiscal 2032.
Superintendent Dr. McCrillis called the presentation "one of the most articulate, comprehensive" accountability reports she'd seen.
