AUBURN — The Auburn School Committee voted to withdraw from the Assabet Valley Collaborative, ending an unused membership. Superintendent Skaza said the district has relied on Southern Worcester Collaborative for special education transportation and placement for years, calling continued Assabet Valley membership unnecessary: "Upon coming on board, I learned that we are not using AVC for any transportation or placement needs." The withdrawal, approved unanimously, takes effect June 30, 2027. The committee also unanimously approved a $1 million fiscal 2032 capital improvement plan, a revised fiscal 2028 plan shifting $75,000 at Packachog and $25,000 at Swanson Road toward building repairs, and first-quarter fiscal 2027 budget transfers.
The business manager reported the district has already used 95.2 percent of its budget as of October 7 and froze discretionary spending.
