Auburn School Committee Approves Warrant Articles, Shifts Meeting Time to 5:30

AUBURN — January 3, 2025 — Auburn School Committee approves warrant articles to redirect $175,000 for school building repairs. The committee voted unanimously Wednesday to send two school department articles to the October 28, 2025 fall special town meeting, with a submission deadline to the town of September 12. The first article repurposes $150,000 previously designated for HVAC work at Swanson Road Elementary School toward air quality improvements at the same building; the second redirects $25,000 from Auburn High School parking lot resurfacing to fix roof and drainage problems at the building's front portico. Business Manager Jennifer Stannic presented the articles, noting the original funding sources for both original projects have been replaced by other means. The committee also voted unanimously to move its regular meeting start time to 5:30 p.m. from 6:00 p.m., accepted Superintendent Dr. Cindy Chamberlain's 2025-2026 performance goals, and gave a first reading to updated fundraising policies prompted in part by a prior-year audit of student activity account procedures.
