Auburn Select Board ratifies town manager contract, approves legal services RFQ
AUBURN — August 25, 2025 — Auburn Select Board ratifies town manager employment contract and advances two zoning amendments. The board voted unanimously Monday to ratify a new employment contract with the town manager following a closed executive session held under MGL Chapter 30A, Section 21A(2), and then voted a second time to authorize Chair Anne M. Cavanaugh to sign the agreement; no terms were disclosed publicly. Town Planner Dr. Mayard presented two proposed zoning bylaw amendments — one aimed at bringing Auburn into compliance with the state's MBTA Communities Law and one reducing special-permit requirements for accessory business uses such as farmers markets and electric vehicle chargers — which the board unanimously transmitted to the Planning Board for a public hearing tentatively set for September 26. The board also unanimously approved releasing an RFQ for outside legal services, after Vice Chair Todd M. Kirrane flagged an apparent factual error in the draft document describing Auburn's distance from Boston.
