Finance Committee Approves Fire Department Salary Transfer
Finance Committee · Meeting of March 11, 2026
Auburn Finance Committee approves $133,000 fire department salary transfer. The Committee unanimously approved the transfer from the Salary Reserve Fund to fulfill firefighter salary obligations from a union contract settlement. The Committee spent much of its March 11 meeting reviewing FY2027 Department of Public Works budgets, with members concerned about Auburn's fiscal sustainability as the Town draws $2.9 million from its $13 million free cash to fund capital improvements.
Town Manager Dori A. Vecchio stated the Town will not be able to rely on free cash at this level in coming years. DPW Director Joanna Paquin reported the Town has fallen behind its 20-year roadway paving schedule.
Snow and ice operations face a projected $362,000 deficit.
