Auburn receives ULI recommendations for civic redevelopment

Economic Development Committee · Meeting of June 8, 2026

Auburn hears ULI recommendations to transform Drury Square and Route 12 corridor. The Select Board and Economic Development Committee received planning recommendations from the Urban Land Institute Boston/New England on June 8 to strengthen the town's civic core and encourage mixed-use redevelopment. The ULI panel, which spent the day conducting tours and stakeholder interviews, recommended transforming the Auburn Pond and Goddard Park area through placemaking investments including walking paths, boardwalks, cafés, and community gardens.

The panel also recommended reviewing zoning regulations to encourage parcel assemblage and noted that eventual fire station relocation could enhance public open space. Assistant Town Manager Paul Dell'Aquila noted that MassDevelopment outlined potential implementation strategies and funding tools to support the redevelopment vision.
