Commission votes to hire consultant for erosion assessment
Conservation Commission · Meeting of August 12, 2026
Auburn Conservation Commission hires consultant to assess erosion damage from July road construction. Chair Michael W. Garland noted that contractor JH Lynch and the Department of Public Works failed to provide adequate erosion controls during storms on July 21 and July 30.
The Commission voted unanimously to hire a consultant to evaluate wetland impacts and recommend future erosion-control measures. In other business, the Commission approved tree removal at 14 Riverside Drive subject to conditions, extended an ORAD for 100 Millbury Street, and continued a Dunkin Notice of Intent hearing to August 26. The extent of siltation that entered local waterways remains unknown.
